Let Your Light Shine
This morning during my quiet time, the scripture verse that was presented was Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light shine before others, that they see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Then the song "God Only Knows" from King and Country hit my phone. (If you don't know it, search the lyrics version on YouTube.)
The facts... we all have challenges, setbacks, moments of wrongdoing, etc.
BUT God... the scripture reminds us to use these things... our pain into purpose, our mess into message... not for attention but rather to glorify Him. And when you share the stories, you share hope and love and faith for others.
Last week, I had the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend. We hadn't actually seen each other since her daughter had committed suicide. While sailing down the Firth of Clyde in Scotland, she shared the story and about the charity she and her husband had started to honor their daughter, Megan. Since 2019, this UK charity has reached massive milestones, even including a brick and mortar space to serve families. (https://www.megansspace.com)
Did my heart break as she shared her story? Absolutely.
But their story, to me, embodies this scripture. They are bringing light to an incredibly difficult, dark topic... and providing hope and inspiration to other families as well as resources.
12+ years ago, my life was a shit show. I was brought to my knees in pain and humility. God only knows. And yet today, I’m a walking testimony to His love, His forgiveness, His blessings. I am so grateful. While life still throws me curveballs, reminding me to be humble and trust him, I know I am not alone. And why do I share? To not only glorify Him but to offer hope and inspiration to others.
Bottom line: Only God knows all you've been through. And God will see you through. Don't dim your sparkle; Let your light shine. ❤️🙏🏻❤️ And when you are ready, SHARE YOUR STORY! There is someone who desperately needs your testimony.
