40 Days of Prayer - You Are Worth It!

June 1st. 151 days since January 1. 44 weekends, 4 holidays and 104 business days - if I'm counting right. And how many of those days did you pray?

Prayer isn't something that needs to be done in a church with folded hands and bended knee. No - prayer can happen anywhere, anytime, with anyone.

When I was first introduced to Mark Batterson's books, the lead pastor at National Community Church in Washington D.C., I was in a very dark place. Coming out of a 29 year marriage, stressed about finances, losing "married" relationships, and wondering who, how and why, I began to read his "Draw the Circle" - which this 40 day prayer challenge is based on. That is when I began to understand the importance of continuous prayer in my life - not just a Sunday "to-do". He tells the story of walking a prayer circle around D.C., in continuous prayer over something in his life. (I won't go into that now, but read the full book - you won't be sorry.) So I began walking a daily prayer circle in my community- praying for the people of the world, praying for world leaders, praying for neighbors I knew and didn't know, praying for family members, praying for my soon to be X and praying for my children and lastly, praying for me. It was life-changing. One day I felt so convicted, I got in my car and drove all the way around my city - Palos Verdes Drive North to Palos Verdes Drive East to Palos Verdes Drive South to Palos Verdes Drive West - and back again. Radio off - in prayer.

Radical prayer requires radical action. And even small prayers require atleast a conversation.

"You have not because you ask not", James 4:2.

I used to think I couldn't pray for things for me - more clients or financial security. But *ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK - because if I'm serving more clients with the right heart, I'm serving Him. And if I'm financially secure, I can help others in a greater way.

I've also had radical answers to my prayers. The testimonies you may have heard from me - from a chain link fence to a candle to a call to a person. But sometimes the answer has been a no or a not yet - and looking in the rearview mirror, those have been painful in the moment but life-saving.

Prayer changes you. It can transform you. It can bring you a peace that passes understanding. I challenge you to join me in this 40 days of prayer. You don't need "religion", just an openness to a "relationship" with your Higher Power, mine being God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

You can DIY pray any and every day - or join me in the prayer circle within the Collab. Yes, it's $10. And we (you and I) are both worth it. First call is this Wednesday, June 4th at 8amPT on Zoom. Click here for details and joining!

Praying for you today my friend - and all of us - as we navigate this thing called "life" and trust in faith as we surrender.

*“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-12
